It is possible to publish to Instagram Stories from your PC through any browser, thanks to a simple trick. Although the web version of the social network offers several functions, it still does not allow publishing natively.

The device explained below is for photography only. If you want to post videos, skip to the about part how to post photo and video stories on pc with extension.

1. Open your preferred browser and access the website instagram. If you are not logged into your account, please log in;

2. Right click on an empty area (no image, text or link). In the menu that opens, choose To inspect, Inspect element or similar content;

• You can also access the feature using a keyboard shortcut. Ctrl + Shift (Arrow up) + me, without Windows, and Cmd + Option + Cnot macOS.

3. Please note that a window will appear on the right side of the browser. These are the tools for developers. Despite so many elements, only one of them interests us. Click on the smartphone and tablet icon, located at the top of the window;

4. Immediately, the mobile version of the site will be displayed. You probably won’t see the option to add stories. To do this, refresh the page using the arrow icon next to the address bar or using the f5 from the keyboard;

5. Now, click on the + icon, in the upper right corner of Instagram, and, in the menu that appears, go to History;

6. Select the image you want to publish by double clicking on it;

7. The mobile web version doesn’t offer as many story editing features as the app. However, it is possible to make the following edits, depending on the icons:

• Arrow down: save to non-PC photo;
• Folded square with face– Access stickers. If you choose one, you can move them around the image, but not change their size;
• Brush: insert hand-drawn content;
• AA: allows you to insert text into the image. 8 color options and only one fixed font are available.

How to Post Photo and Video Stories on PC with Extension

As you can see, the above trick allows you to post only photos to stories on your PC. However, the Chrome extension INSIST It also allows you to post videos through your computer.

1. Open Chrome and go to INSIST page in the Chrome Web Store;

2. click on Use in Chrome. In the box that opens below, confirm the download in Add extension;

3. When the installation is complete, a warning will appear. Click on the icon that looks like a puzzle piece to see the accessories of Chrome. If you want to pin it and keep its icon always visible, click the pin icon next to the app;

4. Now, click on the INSIST icon;

5. You will be redirected to the service page. Click the button OK let’s go!;

6. The mobile version of the Instagram website will then open, with the additional features added by the extension. If you are not already logged into your account, please log in;

7. Now, click on the + icon in the center of the bottom menu to create your stories. From the menu that appears, choose History;

6. Select the photo or video you want to post by double-clicking the file;

• Attention: The maximum video time allowed is 15 seconds. If it is greater than that, you will need to use an online video editor before selecting the movie;

7. If you are posting a video, you will not have editing options. If you want to post a photo, you can insert text, draw by hand, and insert stickers;

8. Full publication in Add to your story.
